Best Burgers in NYC
March 9, 2022
Ah yes, the burger…in many ways a very “New York” food. While the humble beef patty doesn’t share the same iconic status as the hot dog or the BEC, we still think it’s ubiquity deserves a ranking from your good ol’ friends at coolstuff.nyc. Sit back, grab some fries, and read our picks – all of which we have personally enjoyed!
JG Melon
Upper East Side, ManhattanFor: the absolute best burger in the city. Order the classic cheeseburger, fries, a side of chili for dippers & a gin martini if ur feelin wild.

HiHi Room
Cobble Hill, BrooklynFor: Anna B’s perfect burger (ahem - sliders). HiHi Room creates a nostalgic plate of sliders, paired best with their Meg-roni. Also seen in Cobble Hill Neighborhood Guide
Long Island Bar
Brooklyn Heights, BrooklynFor: a burger with melty melty cheese and a side of *perfect* cocktails (the head bartender invented the cosmo.) Also seen in BK Heights Neighborhood Guide

Au Cheval
Chinatown, ManhattanFor: a burger that’s technically from Chicago (New York’s cleaner cousin with less things to do) but is absolutely top tier. Very cool location down an alley off Canal St.

Walter’s
Fort Greene, BrooklynFor: burgers to revive you after drinking a little too much wine at a picnic in Fort Greene Park.

Bernie’s
Greenpoint, BrooklynFor: Brooklyn’s burger…complete with a substantial bun & the super shredded lettuce we all know and <3

Jeffrey’s Grocery
West Village, ManhattanFor: burgers with a side of…oysters? Maybe if we’re lucky they will be able to take over a slice of Waverly Place again this summer during open streets.

Strange Flavor
Bushwick, BrooklynFor: the perfect summer-time park bench to-go burger, nestled inside of The Johnson’s.
Superiority Burger
East Village, ManhattanFor: the only vegetarian burger we’re actually into. Don’t forget to get some soft serve too! (Currently closed, but reopening very soon in a larger locale on Ave A)

Bar Basic
Park Slope, BrooklynFor: a new twist on a classic. Try Bar Basic’s burg if you love the extra crunch of house pickled cabbage.
