Best Places to Read a Book

We’re nearing the end of a hot July in New York and while the heat may be high these last few weeks, spending time outdoors is a good way to break up quarantine fatigue. Here are 4 places you should read a book.

In a park

An obvious choice - in a park, but a certain kind of park. Some of our favorite grassy areas to get lost in a book are: The Long Meadow in Prospect Park, any part of Washington Square Park, or against a tree in Fort Greene Park.

Atop a curb

The curb across the street from Sey Coffee, specifically. Grab a cup of coffee before sitting on the curb to enjoy your book. Because this stretch of Grattan St. is closed to traffic, it’s a deceptively good spot to read.

On a bench (near the street!)

Sure there are plenty of benches in parks but don’t you miss the rush of the city? Why not read a book on a bench on a busy street to remind yourself of the good old days.

When all else fails...

Your fire escape or stoop - you’ve always got the New York version of a backyard to read in.
