Best Vegan Dinner & Drinks

After moving to New York a year ago and being a vegan for most of my life, I have been on a mission to find the best vegan spots in the city for dinner and drinks. Here’s my tried and tested hit list of places to check out (even if you’re not vegan).

Soda Club

East Village

Natural Wine. Fresh Pasta. Ambient Vibes. What more could you need? Cute date night spot for some flirting over a cannoli.

Spicy Moon

West Village

I think every vegan in NY knows about this spot but it’s my go-to spot to impress the non-vegans. Share everything—including the salt and pepper tofu.

Planta

Williamsburg & Nomad

Do yourself a favor and check out the new Williamsburg location. Planta is THE spot for vegan sushi and the bang bang broccoli is a must. They also have some delicious alcohol-free cocktail options—always worth a mention.

Public Records

Gowanus

Hands down one of my favorite spots in New York. Everything you want in a weekend night—share some plates with your pals, devour some mezcal Negroni’s, and then shimmy into the infamous Sound Room to boogie the night/morning away. Bookings are a must!

Dirt Candy

Lower East Side

Some real fancy vegan shit. Michelin-starred and rightly so—the best vegetables you will ever eat. Save this spot for a special occasion or to treat a vegan you love.

Colleta

Gramercy

We love a cute dinner spot that is vegan AND offers gluten-free. Inclusive Italian. The wild mushroom truffle pizza is as good as it sounds and they also have vegan tiramisu—enough said.

JaJaJa

Lower East Side, West Village & Williamsburg

The buffalo cauliflower tacos are a staple in my weekly diet, and you’re always guaranteed a 10/10 spicy margarita. A fun, easy, and affordable spot to call into before heading on a night out.

Honorable mentions

Some places that are accommodating to the vegans, and offer more than 1 cliché VG option—I’m done to death with grilled eggplant and beyond burgers:
