How did you start your size-inclusive womens shoe brand, Margaux?
We launched Margaux in 2015 after meeting our freshman year at Harvard. We became fast friends (and eventually roommates), and dreamt up the idea for the brand during our senior spring. At its core, Margaux was born out of the realization that women face the all-too-frequent choice between footwear that’s stylish and footwear that’s comfortable. We believed there was an opportunity to rethink the engineering of women’s footwear and—by combining form and function through smart design—to create shoes that are as beautiful as they are comfortable. Our goal is to change the way women (like us!) shop for shoes, with an extended size range, comfort-minded design, and heritage quality that stands the test of time.
What's your favorite part about the New York creative community?
Our favorite part of New York is its energy—it's completely infectious. From the fashion and the architecture to the food and the culture, living here is a total sensory experience. We love the passion, the diversity, and the grit, and we feel so lucky to call this city home.
What's inspiring you right now?
We're inspired by many things right now—the season, our city, diving into vintage footwear archives for fall and spring inspiration—and more than ever, we're inspired by our customers. She is the reason we do what we do, and she's our constant source of inspiration. It has been so much fun to watch how she's grown with us as the brand has evolved. From the products we create to the stories we tell, her taste and her passions inform everything we do.
