It’s been a while, but we’re finally starting to dip our toes back into the live-music oasis of New York City. From catching small jazz shows by our favorite, Tamar Korn, to shows at Carnegie Hall featuring our other favorite, Regina Spektor, we want to see it ALL! We figured, maybe you do too? If that’s the case, we’ve put together a list of the best spaces to listen to live music.

Barbès

Park Slope, Brooklyn

For: vocal & instrumental jazz in the back room of the bar! Head there early, grab a ‘tini, and snag a seat :)

Union Hall

Park Slope, Brooklyn

For: a music venue for lovers of comedy & probably the coziest bar in the neighborhood.

Sunny’s Bar

Red Hook, Brooklyn

For: a classic Red Hook spot, complete with a nautical theme & a cash only bar. Fun live music events in the backyard!

Pete’s Candy Store

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

For: a biiiiig variety of musical performers & super fun and unique space to enjoy a show.

Baby’s All Right

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

For: a favorited neighborhood venue with a bar up front & a ticketed concert space in the back.

St. Mazie

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

For: live! jazz! (and really good cocktails) Make a resy if you want to be close to the band!

Smalls Jazz Club

West Village, Manhattan

For: one of the top jazz clubs in the city. We love this local “jazz-head” spot for zoning out to bops with a red wine in hand.

Mezzrow

West Village, Manhattan

For: Smalls’ little sister. Come here for vocal jazz and a space with tables!

Blue Note

Greenwich Village, Manhattan

For: a 40 yr old jazz club giving you live music every night.

Bemelmans Bar

Upper East Side, Manhattan

For: UES darling, Hotel Carlyle’s claim-to-fame bar featuring live vocals & piano in a space that awes.

Brandy’s Piano Bar

Upper East Side, Manhattan

For: an unpredictable musical experience.
